Description

This room is named after the legendary dolphin scientist Dr. John C. Lilly, who loved spending time here. It features some of Dr. Lilly’s books and, in his honor, captures the spirit of the dolphin. “In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true is true or becomes true” – Dr. John C. Lilly.

Andrew Annenberg’s famous underwater painting, “Guardians of the grail,” will inspire you to dive into the mythical realms of the cetaceans. The collection of dolphin art in this room will inspire you to dive deep and the happiness in the dolphin’s smile will spark your own.

The ethereal en-suite bathroom, designed by a well-known Venetian plaster artist, features a glass vessel resting on a dolphin that is hand-carved from sandstone, intricately decorated with shells, and hand-painted. The mirror is also hand-made by a California artist. The rain shower changes light according to the water and the jets are set to give you a great massage. The uniquely designed bamboo bed is perfect for couples or singles. All of our rooms are decorated with a special touch, and yet, nothing comes close to where we are located – an enchanting, unique natural habitat.

This corner room has sliding glass doors on both sides, opening to a stunning Brazilian pepper tree. The inviting ocean view will lure you outside for a walk around the pond. You can also walk directly from your bedroom into the garden for a nice lunch, or visit our yoga and meditation temples. Our Dolphin Room will inspire you to journey within.

It is also an excellent space to work-from-paradise, as it features a workspace with a comfortable desk and chair, high-speed fiber-optic internet, and amenities such as a coffee machine in the kitchen. You will have access to all of the Opua House, which features a large kitchen, a comfortable living room with many areas to lounge in, extensive outdoor tables and space, and a beautiful sun room where you are protected yet feel like you are sitting out in nature.

This is an absolutely incredible property – make no mistake. It is every bit as gorgeous as they say it is. Very quiet and secluded little area in a rural part of Maui. If you are really looking for an escape getaway then this is it. There is access to sandy beaches a short drive away but the property is located really right near the water’s edge. You simply need to take a short hike down and you can be located at the water’s edge and it is very quiet and secluded in a lovely place to have a picnic or to just sit and contemplate life. I really like the fact that they do regular yoga here and offer access to this. After having stayed here, I very much intend to return the next time I am on Maui.

Stop thinking about if you want to stay here. Do it. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. If you are looking for a beautifully decorated, zen place that welcomes you in the best spirits, look no further. Unless you mind magical sunrises of course 🙂

Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful space! My husband and I enjoyed our time here thoroughly! We loved the Dolphin Room with two open windows bringing in the sun, ocean breeze and tropical scents! We loved the hike down to the ocean and to the waterfall! The yoga class and meditation room/ music room were so peaceful! Truly relaxing stay! We will miss staying here and look forward to returning!
