Description

Welcome to our Indian Room, located on the second floor of our Opua house. This cozy and tranquil space offers breathtaking views of the Haleakala crater, the ocean, and our lush jungle-like garden through windows on both sides.

The room is tastefully adorned with treasures from India and Tibet, and boasts beautiful black bamboo flooring, adding a touch of Asian-meditation vibes. The spacious mirrored closet doors create a sense of openness, while the inviting bamboo-framed bed beckons you to relax and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Decorated in a deep bordeaux color reminiscent of monk’s robes, the room exudes a zen-like atmosphere. The focal point above the bed is the Kala chakra mandala, accompanied by a small prayer altar featuring a Buddha, emanating a feeling of reverence and tranquility.

The private bathroom, located downstairs, is a sight to behold. Beautifully decorated with a teak wood vanity supporting a marble sink, it features a skylight that fills the space with natural light. A captivating mural painting of a mermaid by a renowned Maui artist graces the walls, adding to the overall charm of the room.

During your stay, you’ll have full access to all of Opua House’s amenities. This includes a large kitchen, a cozy living room with ample lounging areas, spacious outdoor tables and seating, and a delightful sunroom that provides a feeling of being one with nature while staying protected.

Whether you’re seeking a serene getaway or a productive work-from-paradise experience, our Indian Room at Opua House promises pure natural bliss and a truly unforgettable stay.

Reviews

This place is exactly as advertised, and it’s a little oasis in a jungle like garden by the ocean away from the hustle and bustle of some places in Maui. It’s great if you really want to get out and get away or stay on the “road to Hana!” Loved the yoga classes in the morning and the outdoor shower was great.

We had a great time at the bamboo temple! We spent the first half of our honeymoon here. It was nice being so remote with a beautiful view. William works at the property and he did a great job showing us all there was to do on the property! We did the ocean trail which was a great experience and enjoyed the music temple and visiting with the chickens. The break from cell service was a nice change (although the main house has extremely fast WiFi service when you need it). The outdoor shower was fantastic and you can’t beat the views! You are on the road to Hana and very close to Twin falls. We enjoyed the nearby town Paia and had some fabulous fish and chips and ice cream over there.

We are just leaving Maui And very sad to go. The first couple nights we stayed on the west side of the island in Lahaina . We arrived at the Maui retreat (via Jeep 🙂 and felt like we arrived in paradise. The west side was resort-ish with lots of people but this was exactly what we needed . William was a wonderful host . The place is beautiful . Exactly as pictured . We needed to disconnect, get away from stress , get married !! Kutira was amazing . We got married on the beach with turtles and she spoke to our souls . She is wonderful . We will forever remember her . The VIEWS alone are enough to recommend this place , I slept better then I have since I was a kid . Waking up to The sunrise over the ocean was amazing . It’s peaceful , quiet , beautiful . We went into town everyday ; it’s close to a lot of neat little towns but we loved coming home to the bamboo temple . We hiked, cooked looked at the stars . There is yoga available (we unfortunately missed ) . The outdoor shower is the best .. so much beauty and peace here . Will forever recommend and be grateful for our time here.
